Berlin · Newfoundland · Argentina · St. Louis · KansasBefore there was The Lyon Den…
Born in Berlin to a Navy family, Cynthia grew up with travel as part of the family story. Newfoundland and Argentina became early chapters in a life attentive to distance, place, memory, and the feeling that another world might be waiting just beyond the window.
Literature became the constant. Cynthia studied English, taught Shakespeare and the books she loved, continued into graduate study, and made librarianship another way of placing stories in people’s hands. Poetry, classic and foreign films, Broadway, and New York kept widening the archive.
The Lyon Den grew from that lifetime: not a place for answers handed down from above, but a literary conversation about romance, imagination, memory, and the lives we might have lived.
The heart of the Den
Stories become lessons.
A remembered moment can change shape when it is finally told.
Books become conversations.
Every reader brings a different life to every page.
Curiosity keeps us growing.
The point is not to have every answer. It is to keep asking better questions.
